Machine Operator – Metal Manufacturing
Superior Tube's machine operators setup, operate, and visually inspect equipment and raw materials used in making precision metal tubing. This role is for 3rd shift (12am-8am Monday-Friday). First shift is assigned by seniority only.
Responsibilities
Provide recommendations to operations teams to resolve safety concerns, identify safety risks, and proactively reduce these risks to improve operations, focusing on an “Injury-Free Workplace Culture.”
Set‑up, operate, adjust equipment, and lay out material in accordance with instructions to meet health & safety, quality, and production standards.
Measure and visually inspect product, apply in‑process quality control methods, and use statistical process control (SPC) during product processing to ensure it meets specified requirements.
Perform Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) such as cleaning tooling, guides, and other parts contacting the product; inspect accessible parts for wear; check and maintain proper fluid levels; and ensure work centers are operational.
Change tooling, fluids, and media on operated equipment.
Handle and transport material and supplies manually as required to maintain product flow.
Requirements
2-3 years of experience in manufacturing, warehousing, industrial, or related facilities with knowledge of quality processes and safety procedures. Experience in metal working operations is a plus.
Experience with (but not required to have) tube drawing, furnaces, tube rollers/reducers, chemical baths, polishing, metal saws, precision grinder, and related equipment.
Knowledge of basic hand tools; experience with micrometers or calipers preferred.
Must operate with credibility and unquestioned professional and ethical integrity.
Strong analytical skills and high attention to detail.
