
Accounting Clerk

Summary
As a full-time accounting clerk for United Way of the Plains, you will have an opportunity to be part of a mission-focused results-driven team that will record financial transactions related to the various business activities of our organization through our accounts payable and accounts receivable processes. The successful candidate for this position has a high commitment to accuracy, trust, and dependability. This position works closely with all members of the finance team and engages with all staff throughout the organization.
Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions
The major responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Data coding and input of vendor invoices, and generating checks for signature
Prepare and transmit deposits electronically for checks received in the mail
Data coding and input of accounts receivable collections
Data input of pledges and other miscellaneous receivables
Maintain departmental files relating to accounts payables and receivables
Minimum Requirements and Qualifications
High school diploma or GED. Post high school courses in accounting preferred.
At least two years of experience in a similar position (not-for-profit experience preferred)
Ability to thrive in a fast paced, deadline driven environment
Capacity to be self-directed while working as a member of a larger team
Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality, possess a high level of accuracy in work product, and commitment to defined deadlines
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel, along with experience in database programs
Physical Demands
The employee is required to actively listen and communicate clearly.
Ability to lift and carry 25 pounds.
Vision abilities required by this job include close and far.
Ability to operate a computer keyboard.
