Overview
Registered Nurse – PACU in Hilo, HI. Start date 05/04/2026 for a 13-week travel assignment at a hospital setting. Weekly pay range: $1,839.00 to $1,939.00 per week. No guaranteed hours. Responsibilities
Provide care for patients in preoperative, Phase I, and Phase II recovery, including post-anesthesia assessment and monitoring
Monitor airway, ventilatory status, hemodynamics, incision sites, temperature, pain, and other indicators of stability or potential complications
Maintain patient safety and comfort, administer medications per protocol, and escalate concerns to the anesthesia and surgical teams as needed
Manage unit equipment and processes (Meditech, PCA Pumps, Pyxis, Braun IV Pumps, Cryocuff, SCDs, Bair PAWS Warmers, HP Monitors, Phillips Monitors) and ensure proper documentation
Collaborate with the anesthesia team and surgical staff; complete accurate handoffs and prepare patients for transfer to appropriate units
Contribute to unit workflow, infection control practices, and continuous patient safety improvements
On-call shifts may occur: 0–3 times per month (8-hour night and 24-hour weekends/holidays)
Requirements
License: Hawaii Registered Nurse license active by start of assignment (if not currently in possession, must apply upon acceptance of offer and have license by start date)
Certifications: BLS and ACLS from the American Heart Association; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) recommended and may be required for specific positions; NIHSS and TNCC certifications may be required for certain assignments
Experience: Minimum 2+ years of critical care nursing (ER & ICU) in a hospital setting; this experience may be substituted for PACU nurse experience where applicable
Other: Current or obtainment of required state licensure by start date; proof of flu vaccination or facility-approved medical/religious exception prior to contract start date; ability to work in a PACU/ASU environment and to meet health clearance requirements
On-site readiness: Must arrive the Thursday before start date to attend the employee health appointment
