
Physical Therapist - Inpatient Float

Overview
The Physical Therapist evaluates patients, develops individualized treatment programs, and provides therapeutic interventions following the principles of Physical Therapy. This role collaborates closely with the interdisciplinary care team and reports to the Clinical Coordinator of Rehab Services.
Responsibilities
Review therapy requisitions and evaluate patients' physical condition and needs.
Develop treatment plans including therapeutic exercise, gait training, soft tissue techniques, modalities, and functional training.
Instruct patients in proper use of mobility aids, braces, prosthetics, and equipment.
Reassess and modify treatment plans based on patient progress and clinical judgment.
Communicate with physicians and team members to coordinate patient care.
Document evaluations, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
Provide guidance to rehab support staff assisting with patient care.
Maintain safety standards, equipment, and infection control procedures.
Assist with departmental quality initiatives and committee participation.
Transport patients when necessary and support Senior Therapists in their absence.
Participate in ongoing education, trainings, and professional development.
Provide age-appropriate care to patients across all age groups.
Education & Licensure
Must be licensed (or eligible for licensure) as a Physical Therapist in New York State.
BLS required
within 90 days of hire.
Experience
Hospital/acute care experience preferred.
Physical Demands
Moderate to significant physical effort including lifting, pushing, and pulling.
Must be able to lift 30 lbs independently and up to 150 lbs with assistance.
Exposure Category
Category II:
No routine exposure to blood or body fluids; may occasionally perform Category I tasks.
Infection Control
Follow all universal precautions during patient care.
