Summary

This position is eligible for Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) – a student loan repayment program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval and award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.
Responsibilities

Primary responsibility for interventional radiology procedures, including review of IR orders for appropriateness and feasibility, pre-procedure preparation, knowledge and technical skill in image-guided procedures, post-procedure care, and documentation in CPRS or other EHR
Coordinate care within the IR team and with other staff in the medical center, and occasionally with providers outside the medical center
Provide consultative input through patient chart and imaging record review and patient assessments that integrate imaging and radiology procedures into patient management
Perform a wide range of IR invasive procedures including but not limited to: TACE, Microwave ablations, Renal Cryoablation, suprapubic catheter placement, IVC placement, peripheral stenting, diagnostic and therapeutic angiography and venography, fistulograms, PEG tube placements, lumbar punctures, myelograms, and image-guided biopsy
Conduct general exams including diagnostic fluoroscopies, radiography, sonography, CT, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, Mammography, and DXA
Perform and interpret diagnostic imaging studies and ensure quality of diagnostic examinations in the Imaging Section
Utilize PACS and voice dictation to ensure timely and consistent imaging reporting and record keeping
Monitor workload and develop corrective action plans to meet VHA benchmarks
Participate in clinical education programs and quality assurance activities
Engage in non-interpretive duties such as protocoling imaging studies, obtaining informed consent, chart review, peer review, and presenting at conferences
Schedule

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm. Some occasions may require work outside this core schedule as this is a 24/7 hospital facility. Physician will rotate on General and/or Interventional Radiology Call. Subject to change based on needs of the facility.
Qualifications

Basic Requirements

United States Citizenship (non-citizens may be appointed when recruitment of qualified citizens is not possible in accordance with VA Policy)
Degree of Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) from an approved school
Current, full, unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a U.S. state, territory, or Commonwealth
Residency Training: Completion of residency in an accredited core specialty program leading to eligibility for board certification
Board eligibility or board certification as applicable; for faculty status, board certification may be required
Proficiency in spoken and written English
Preferred/Additional Requirements

Board eligible or board certified
Two or more years of experience as an attending physician
Licensure and professional credentials as required by VA policy
Physical requirements: able to perform essential duties with or without reasonable accommodation
