Summary

Qualifications
To qualify for this position you must meet the basic requirements listed below and any additional requirements indicated in the full job announcement. Applicants who have not yet completed all training or license requirements may be tentatively selected but will not be hired until all requirements are satisfied.
Basic Requirements
United States citizenship. Non‑citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA policy.
Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
The degree must have been obtained from a school approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year the study was completed.
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a state, territory, or the District of Columbia.
Residency training: completion of an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. Accepted residencies include ACGME‑accredited programs, AOA‑accredited programs, and other residencies followed by a minimum of five years of verified U.S. practice (as determined by the local Medical Staff Executive Committee).
For residents enrolled in an ACGME/AOA accredited residency program who otherwise meet the basic requirements, appointment as a Physician Resident Provider (PRP) is permitted. PRPs must hold a full physician license and are employed on an intermittent or fee basis. They are not independent practitioners and do not receive privileges, but may perform restricted duties under supervision.
Proficiency in spoken and written English.
Board‑certified radiology practitioners are preferred.
Prior VA experience is preferred.
Body fellowship‑trained or muscle‑skeletal (MSK) fellowship‑trained radiologists are preferred.
Physical requirements: light lifting (> 15 lb) and light carrying (> 15 lb), pushing, reaching above shoulders, use of fingers, walking for at least one hour, standing for at least two hours, repeated bending, use of hands and fingers, quick mental and muscular coordination, near vision correctable to 20/40, and hearing. The incumbent must be able to wear a lead apron.
Duties
Provide comprehensive medical care for Veteran patients and assist residents and technologists in imaging processes.
Interpret and sign imaging exams; review, sign, and edit (if appropriate) resident exams and add amendments.
Promptly communicate critical findings in accordance with the facility’s critical results policy.
Interpret most studies in the following modalities: nuclear radiology, radiography, CT, and ultrasound.
Perform fluoroscopy examinations such as esophagrams, upper GI studies, and barium enemas.
Coordinate with providers within our service line, other VHA facilities, and community providers as indicated by the plan of care.
Consult within own and other service lines when indicated.
Oversee the administration of iodinated, barium, and gadolinium contrast agents.
Work with ionizing radiation during fluoroscopic and CT‑guided procedures, and direct administration of ionizing materials.
Provide information on MRI safety and safe imaging for women of child‑bearing age.
Work schedule: 8:00 am‑4:30 pm, Monday‑Friday. Selected candidates may work a hybrid remote and on‑site schedule.
