This position exercises sound judgment in applying accounting standards and is responsible for monitoring compliance with University policies and maintaining effective internal controls.

In support of the University’s mission, the Accountant II contributes to the responsible stewardship of institutional resources and promotes a culture of operational excellence.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong foundation in accounting principles, exceptional attention to detail, and the analytical ability to problem-solve through complex reconciliations.Major Duties and Responsibilities:* Perform general accounting functions, including maintaining the chart of accounts, preparing journal entries, and completing monthly account reconciliations* Review and support staff on accounting entries, reconciliations, and technical accounting matters* Manage contribution accounting, including recording gifts, maintaining restricted and endowed funds, and reconciling pledge receivables and revenue* Oversee grant accounting, including account setup, indirect cost allocations, financial reporting to external agencies, and support for the Single Audit and SEFA* Coordinate and manage restricted and designated funds, including distributions, donor reporting, and serving as the primary Financial Affairs contact* Prepare and reconcile payroll-related journal entries and assist with resolving discrepancies and benefit reconciliations* Support tax compliance activities, including sales/use, property, and local tax filings, and advise on taxability questions* Assist with audits and special projects, including preparation of schedules, reports, and financial statement footnotesQualifications:* Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field* 4+ years of industry experience or a combination of public and industry experience. Non-profit accounting or grant accounting experience preferred.* Experience with the preparation of spreadsheets and interpretation of spreadsheet information* Proficiency in Microsoft ExcelWorking Conditions:Working conditions are normal for an in-office environment.
