CAF are hired to provide oversight for specific students and their clinical experiences. Clinical faculty provide indirect clinical supervision of the student and is the first contact point if concerns or issues arise during a clinical rotation. As an indirect clinical supervisor, clinical faculty provide oversight of the clinical learning experiences and acts, on behalf of the LHSON, as a liaison to the clinical site. Clinical faculty will make an average of three placement site visits per semester to evaluate the student.Major Duties and Responsibilities:Orientation:* Familiarize yourself with course objectives for the semester* Communicate with student(s)* Set up site visit scheduleClinical Teaching:* Clinical faculty will make about three placement site visits per semester to evaluate the student.
Site visits should be in-person if office is within 45 minutes.* Expect a site visit to take at least an hour.* Clinical faculty will meet with the student and the preceptor both together and separately.
If time and circumstances permit, clinical faculty may observe the student with 1-2 patients.* Maintain professional relationships with preceptor and office staff at each siteStudent Evaluation:* Complete a site visit evaluation form* Complete an end of semester student evaluation online* Notify course faculty promptly regarding student issues, including, but not limited to, student absences, critical incidents, illnesses, student emergencies, or other incidents that may indicate actual or potential performance issuesWorking Conditions:* The University appointment is part-time and temporary in nature and thus carries no fringe benefits* After University appointment, hiring for clinical rotations occurs on an as-needed, limited-term basis* Must maintain current health requirements, training, licensures, and certifications on file with the Loretto Heights School of NursingMinimum Qualifications* An active Unencumbered license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in Colorado* Must have a minimum of two (2) years of full-time, or equivalent, professional nursing practice.**Special Instructions to Applicants:**Please submit a resume with your application.
