
Career Consultant (Graduate Assistant)

As a Graduate Assistant supporting UNIV*150 and Career Services, you will serve as a student consultant helping fellow Chanticleers with career readiness and academic exploration through the involvement of UNIV*150. This role blends direct student support with outreach and administrative responsibilities, contributing to the Career Consultant on the Go (CCotG) initiative and broader campus engagement.
Primary Responsibilities
UNIV*150 Support & Classroom Engagement
Present workshops and classroom sessions aligned with UNIV*150 modules, including career exploration, values assessment, resume writing, and personal branding.
Provide course-related support to UNIV*150 students, including assignment guidance and platform training (Handshake, CareerShift, LinkedIn, TypeFocus).
Collaborate with UNIV*150 instructors to integrate Career Services resources into the curriculum and support student success.
Career Consultant on the Go (CCotG) & Individual Advising
Deliver same‑day career advising during CCotG and walk‑in hours, assisting students with resumes, cover letters, job/internship searches, major/minor exploration, interview prep, and networking.
Maintain availability for CCotG on Mondays and Thursdays from 9:30–11:30 AM and 1:30–3:30 PM.
Campus Outreach & Event Support
Represent Career Services at tabling events, orientations, open houses, and special events.
Assist with career fairs such as Ready Set Hire and Job Fest.
Create and distribute career‑related materials to support student engagement.
Present career‑related topics to classrooms to promote Career Services and student development.
Required Qualifications
Must be a current CCU graduate student.
Availability for CCotG on Mondays and Thursdays from 9:30–11:30 AM and 1:30–3:30 PM.
Strong time management, verbal and written communication skills.
Attention to detail, dependability, and ability to multitask.
Ability to lift at least 30 lbs.
