Qualifications
Preferable prior teaching experience (not required).
Bachelor’s degree in a position‑related area and Iowa Board of Ed Excellence (BOEE) Teacher License.
Strong instructional planning and delivery aligned to district curriculum.
Ability to use assessment data to guide instruction and support student growth.
Effective classroom management that fosters a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment.
Strong communication and relationship‑building skills with students, families, and colleagues.
Ability to collaborate professionally and engage in continuous learning and improvement.
Essential Functions
Instructional Design & Delivery:
Deliver high‑quality instruction aligned to classroom missions and learning goals, using assessment data to adjust teaching and support all students, including those with IEPs or 504 plans.
Collaboration & Relationship Building:
Partner with students, parents, colleagues, and administrators to foster positive relationships, demonstrate leadership, and promote a culture of high expectations.
Student Learning & Assessment:
Align instruction with classroom goals and learning objectives, implement recognition strategies, and use assessment data to evaluate performance and continuously improve instruction.
Classroom Management & Environment:
Maintain classroom structure, routines, and behavioral expectations to foster a positive, safe, and orderly learning environment.
Communication:
Maintain timely, professional, and transparent communication with students, families, and administrators, providing updates on student progress and classroom activities.
Professional Responsibilities, Compliance & Development:
Maintain accurate documentation, implement required accommodations and services, and adhere to all applicable federal, state, and district laws and policies. Actively participate in meetings and professional development.
Attendance & Reliability:
Demonstrate consistent attendance and punctuality, ensuring instructional continuity and strong relationships.
Adherence to Iowa Teaching & Ethical Standards:
Adhere to the Iowa Teaching Standards and Ethical Standards for Educators, demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct.
Other Functions
Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings, and special events as assigned.
Provide excellent customer service and assistance to all employees.
Work efficiently and independently with minimal supervision.
Demonstrate respect and professionalism in all interactions with colleagues, students, and families.
Use positive and professional communication in all interactions.
Adhere to safety protocols and policies established by the district.
Support district goals and objectives while adhering to all district policies.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Working Environment
The position requires physical demands including lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, reaching, driving, standing, and walking. Working conditions may involve extreme temperatures and humidity. Exposure to communicable diseases is possible. The position demands maintaining emotional control under stress.
Terms of Employment
Work year established by the district; salary according to schedule adopted annually.
Clearances
Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance.
Evaluation
Job performance will be evaluated annually, as per district policies and procedures.
