Mission
As the first-line supervisor for bus operators, customers, driver field evaluation, and accident first responders, the Road Supervisor plays a crucial role. This position is safety-sensitive and requires respectful and professional communication with other Dispatchers, Bus Operators, and Supervisors.
Description:
First line responders for all operational issues, monitoring all services.
Responds to accidents or incidents.
Assist bus operators in preparing accident reports and/or incident reports.
Corrects safety concerns on the route/scene while documenting the violation
Evaluates and monitors bus operator safety and performance.
Ensures operators' fitness for duty by checking them in.
Verifies operators properly login to Swiftly/ GMV Syncromatics (CAD/AVL) daily.
Manages the timely scheduling and delivery of day-to-day scheduled and unscheduled transit service.
Supports operator training with regards to BTW aspect of the training.
Prepares operator assignments and manages the extra board schedule.
Maintains open lines of communication with dispatch/customer service staff regarding any route problems or schedule issues.
Profile
Requirements of the Operation Supervisor
Must be at least 21 years of age.
High school diploma or equivalent required
Must have a valid SC Class B CDL with Passenger Endorsement
Public transportation experience preferred
Prior dispatch/supervisory experience preferred
Supervisory experience with hourly employees with 2-3 years of transit supervisory experience preferred.
Computer literate with working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and AVL Software.
Familiar with basic vehicle mechanical systems including pre-trip/post-trip inspection procedures.
Ability to effectively prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
Excellent verbal, written, and communication skills with the ability to appropriately interact with employees of all levels including bus operators, customers, senior management, client representatives, union officials, and the general public.
Demonstrate regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.
Writes reports in a coherent, legible way
Excellent customer service skills.
Ability to work under time constraints and deadlines
Problem solving and analytical abilities
Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly
Ability to follow written and oral instructions with minimal supervision.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers.
Ability to work flexible and varied work schedules including late night, early morning, weekends, inclement weather days, and holidays.
Working knowledge of the geographical layout of the area as to the location of streets, important buildings, and other destinations.
