Sanitation Supervisor (Night Shift)

Position Summary:

The Sanitation Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all cleaning and sanitation activities within the food processing facility. This role ensures the plant meets all food safety, quality, and regulatory standards by maintaining sanitary conditions across all processing equipment, rooms, and support areas. The Sanitation Supervisor manages a team of sanitation workers, coordinates cleaning schedules, and ensures compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), OSHA standards, and FDA/USDA regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervise and coordinate daily sanitation operations to ensure compliance with company policies and government regulations.
Oversee and train sanitation employees on safe and effective cleaning procedures, chemical handling, and equipment disassembly.
Implement Master Sanitation Schedules (MSS) and sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs).
Inspect production and packaging areas pre- and post-cleaning for compliance with food safety and quality standards.
Maintain accurate sanitation records, logs, and reports to support internal and external audits.
Ensure proper usage, storage, and labeling of cleaning chemicals and supplies.
Collaborate with Quality Assurance, Maintenance, and Production teams to resolve sanitation-related issues and improve operational efficiency.
Monitor sanitation labor and supply budgets and recommend cost-saving improvements.
Participate in training programs and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance food safety culture.
Ensure compliance with Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) regulations and promote a safe workplace.
Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED required; Associate or Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or related field preferred.
3-5 years of sanitation experience in a food processing or manufacturing environment, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory capacity.
Strong knowledge of FDA, USDA, SQF, or BRC food safety standards.
Familiarity with GMPs, SSOPs, and HACCP principles.
Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work night shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) proficiency preferred.
Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods.
Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs regularly.
Comfortable working in cold, wet, and noisy environments typical of food processing plants.
The ability to work 3rd shift hours.
