Description
The Systems Administrator is responsible for the reliability, security, and day-to-day operation of the company's IT infrastructure. This role owns core systems including servers, identity, cloud infrastructure, Microsoft 365, networking, and endpoint management. The ideal candidate is hands-on, security-minded, and comfortable troubleshooting complex issues independently in a mixed on-prem and cloud environment.
Key Responsibilities
Administer and maintain Windows Server environments (on-prem and Azure)
Manage Microsoft 365 services including Exchange, Entra ID (Azure AD), Teams, and Intune
Provision and manage user accounts, permissions, groups, and access controls
Monitor system performance, availability, and security
Manage backups, disaster recovery, and business continuity processes
Administer network services including firewalls, VPNs, LAN/WAN, and site-to-site connectivity
Patch, update, and harden systems according to best practices
Troubleshoot outages and complex technical issues across systems and networks
Work with vendors and ISPs while owning resolution and follow-through
Maintain accurate system documentation and diagrams
Support IT projects such as infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and security initiatives
Assist with endpoint management and escalation support when needed
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
3+ years experience as a Systems Administrator or similar role
Strong Windows Server administration experience
Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, routing, VPNs)
Experience with Microsoft 365 administration
Familiarity with Azure or other cloud platforms
Experience implementing security controls, backups, and recovery
Ability to troubleshoot issues independently and methodically
Strong documentation and communication skills
Preferred Technical Experiences:
Azure infrastructure administration (VMs, networking, RBAC)
Intune / endpoint management
VMware or Hyper-V
Linux administration
Scripting or automation (PowerShell preferred)
Experience supporting multiple sites or remote offices
