Job Description:
Seeking an experienced
AEM Solution Architect
to assess a largely vendor-built
Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) as a Cloud Service
environment and define a sustainable long-term support model for a highly visible public-facing digital platform.
This platform is one of the organization's most critical digital assets. The current AEM environment is highly customized and lacks internal transparency. This role is responsible for bringing clarity to the architecture, identifying strengths and risks, and defining a scalable, maintainable path forward.
The engagement will begin with a comprehensive
architecture and platform assessment , followed by ongoing
strategic advisory support , including transition planning, governance, and architectural decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Platform Assessment & Architecture Review
Evaluate the current AEM as a Cloud Service implementation
Distinguish standard platform practices from over-customization or unnecessary complexity
Assess long-term maintainability and recommend simplification or remediation strategies
Support Model & Transition Planning
Define an appropriate future-state support model (internal, vendor, or hybrid)
Develop a transition roadmap from current-state to future-state operations
Identify required roles, skillsets, and team structure
Architecture & Solution Design
Lead architecture and solution design across AEM tools (Sites, Assets, Forms, etc.)
Define component, template, and experience architecture
Translate business requirements into technical architecture, workflows, and content models
Governance & Best Practices
Establish architectural guardrails and standards
Provide guidance on security, performance, and code quality
Support development teams with best practices and code review standards
Documentation & Knowledge Transfer
Identify gaps in existing documentation and establish standards
Ensure critical platform knowledge is documented and retained internally
Facilitate knowledge transfer from vendors to internal teams
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with product, UX, engineering, operations, and procurement stakeholders
Support alignment between business goals and technical solutions
Stakeholder Communication
Serve as a trusted technical advisor to leadership
Translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable insights for non-technical audiences
Risk & Decision Support
Identify platform risks, dependencies, and technical debt
Provide clear recommendations and decision frameworks
Support leadership in evaluating current vs. future-state tradeoffs
Vendor & Contractor Oversight
Evaluate current vendor performance and responsibilities
Provide input into future vendor/contractor scopes, roles, and expectations
