WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

As a Driver Supervisor and Dispatcher, your key role is to supervise and dispatch drivers and trucks, ensuring smooth and profitable transportation operations. Your primary responsibilities include overseeing asset management in our Transportation Management Systems (TMS), dispatching accurate delivery appointments, and planning assignments for drivers and assets. Your main focus will be on ensuring safe and effective supervision of drivers, optimizing truck routing for efficiency, controlling costs through efficient load planning and scheduling, and maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction and service.

SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintaining truck continuity in the Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and accurately reflecting truck arrival and departure times.
Employee services
Company-Wide communication
Provides information by answering questions and requests.
Addresses and/or escalates any potential safety, quality, and employee concerns, including injury and accident reporting.
Resolves personnel problems, complaints, and formal grievances when possible, or escalates them to the Manager for resolution.
Planning loads for assets and drivers, optimizing asset utilization and routing trucks for efficiency and profitability.
Determine and discuss with Transportation Planners the appropriate loads for each truck based on the driver's needs, hours of availability, and transit time of loads.
Communicate with drivers any information that is related to scheduled loads and work with Transportation Planners to determine appointment scheduling.
Achieve all operating performance metrics and goals.
Responsible for the overall productivity and efficiency measurements related to dispatching the company fleet.
Comply with all Department of Transportation (D.O.T.) and Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) regulations and company safety practices and procedures.
Provide daily and monthly status reports to management regarding problem areas and appropriate resolution needed.
Communicate professionally, effectively, and timely with both internal and external customers/contacts.
Administrative and clerical duties including data entry, mail distribution, postage, petty cash, management of contracts, ordering gift cards, etc.
Receptionist duties including answering/transferring phone calls, greeting customers, ensuring badging protocol, etc.
Office maintenance duties including light cleaning, community area upkeep, running errands, inventory maintenance, purchasing of supplies and food, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS

Experience and Education:

Bachelor's degree or comparable alternative of successful year for year experience
Two years of work experience in operations or transportation with progressive responsibility.
Communication Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively and persuasively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Ability to effectively relate to all levels of employees and build and maintain successful relationships.
Computer Skills:

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, and MS PowerPoint)
Ability to quickly learn and operate transportation software and systems.
Experience in HR, Payroll, or Transportation Management Systems preferred.
Other Skills and Abilities:

Ability to obtain the Organizations Supervisor Certification
Willingness to be on call, and to cover other Supervisors in their absence.
Proficiency or ability to acquire proficiency in the following regulatory programs - DOT, EPA, and other applicable federal and state regulations.
Proficiency and experience with hazardous material transportation.
Ability to perform administrative duties, talk on the phone, use of computer, standing, adequate vision capabilities.
Other Qualifications:

Demonstrated capacity for collaboration, with ability to work cross-functionally in fast-paced environment.
Self-motivated individual with a sense of urgency, a demonstrated work ethic and integrity.
Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and shift tasks quickly as well as work independently.
Must be able to communicate effectively and concisely with all levels of employees and build and maintain successful relationships.
Effective problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt to changing needs.
Read, write, speak, and comprehend the English language, including deciphering contract language.
See both distance and details at close range, within a few feet of the observer (with or without corrective lenses).
Identify and understand the speech of another person (with or without a personal auditory hearing device).
Work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business, including occasionally arriving early, staying late on a moment's notice and occasional evening and weekend shifts.
