GENERAL SUMMARY
This position is to manage and support the organization’s network and connectivity systems. This role is responsible for maintaining reliable and secure network operations, including firewall management, VPN connectivity, and multi-site communication, within a primarily on-premises environment.
As part of a small IT team, this position requires a hands-on approach to troubleshooting, ownership of network performance and availability, and the ability to work across both network and systems layers. The ideal candidate will be comfortable supporting critical infrastructure, collaborating with team members, and contributing to day-to-day IT operations as needed.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage and maintain Fortinet stack — FortiGate firewalls, FortiSwitches, and FortiAPs, including firmware updates, configuration, and policy management
Administer and support SSL VPN for remote users and maintain multiple IPSec tunnels to remote sites, vendors, and business partners
Monitor VPN and WAN connectivity, ensuring high availability and rapid resolution of outages impacting business operations
Manage dual ISP connections, including failover configuration, performance monitoring, and coordination with service providers
Maintain and support network infrastructure including primarily Fortinet and occasionally Cisco switching environments
Administer site-to-site connectivity, including UniFi wireless bridge between facilities
Monitor network health and respond to alerts; perform root cause analysis on outages and degraded performance
Support end users with network and connectivity-related issues as needed
Coordinate with vendors and ISPs for troubleshooting, escalations, quotes, and hardware replacement (RMA)
Maintain accurate network documentation including diagrams, configurations, and operational procedures
Assist IT team with infrastructure projects and collaborate across systems and network environments
Security & Access Responsibilities
Manage firewall policies, NAT rules, and access controls on FortiGate devices
Ensure secure remote access for users and third-party vendors
Perform periodic firewall rule reviews and maintain network segmentation best practices
Support patching and firmware updates for network devices
End User & Operational Support
Participate in day-to-day IT support activities within an internal ticketing system, including documenting work performed and maintaining clear ticket notes
Assist with general user support issues as part of a small IT team, including escalation and troubleshooting of connectivity and system-related problems
Support company-issued iOS devices, including initial setup, account configuration, application deployment, and coordination with carriers for service changes such as international plans
Maintain accurate records of assigned devices and support basic mobile device troubleshooting

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
The incumbent must:
Have a high school diploma or GED and six years of hands-on network administration experience in a business environment

Have a bachelor’s degree four years of hands-on network administration experience in a business environment
-and-
Experience with

Fortinet firewalls (FortiGate required; FortiSwitch/FortiAP preferred)
Hands-on experience with

SSL VPN and IPSec tunnel

configuration and troubleshooting
Solid understanding of

routing, switching, VLANs, NAT, and firewall concepts
Experience with

enterprise wireless networking

and troubleshooting
Ability to troubleshoot issues across network, firewall, and system layers
Familiarity with

Windows environments and Active Directory

Not Required but Preferred
Fortinet NSE certifications
Experience with UniFi or similar wireless/bridge technologies
Experience managing dual ISP or redundant network environments
Familiarity with network monitoring tools
Experience working with vendors and procurement processes
Familiarity with SAP ERP and Radley EDI systems

SPECIALIZED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
Intermediate to advanced experience (beyond basic data entry) working with computer applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and other presentation applications and/or software.
