About the Role
Legal Counsel will advise the business on legal and commercial matters related to new and existing partnerships and agreements. The role is responsible for negotiating, drafting, and reviewing commercial contracts while advancing the Company’s initiatives in compliance with all laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

Review, draft and negotiate commercial contracts and provide strategic legal advice to business clients.

Examples of agreement types: payment processing agreements, vendor agreements (MSAs/SOWs for marketing, technology, data, and intellectual property contracts), license agreements, market access agreements, partnership agreements, sponsorship agreements, affiliate agreements, and promotions (sweepstakes, contests).

Draft and synthesize key clauses and create bespoke agreements for unique business transactions.

Leverage AI-enabled tools to efficiently review and draft contracts, providing timely, data-informed guidance.

Adopt a collaborative approach with business partners to lead negotiations with suppliers, affiliates, and partners across functions.

Manage multiple assignments simultaneously, prioritizing and triaging effectively.

Maintain an organized executed contract repository using the company’s contract management system.

Assess risks and use sound judgment to respond to questions, negotiate deals, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Provide well-reasoned legal advice and creative solutions to complex issues, inspiring confidence among business partners.

Proactively identify and advise on legal issues arising from potential and existing commercial relationships.

Support business partners on a wide array of contractual matters related to product, technology, sports betting, gaming operations, marketing, finance, and HR.

Contribute to team projects, improve commercial legal processes, update policies and contract templates, and drive adoption of the company’s contract management tool.

Demonstrate strong work ethic, ownership of projects, sound judgment, multi-tasking, and problem-solving with minimal supervision.

Exhibit leadership and teamwork skills in a collaborative environment.

Maintain professionalism, strong advocacy, credibility, and confidentiality of sensitive information.

Coordinate cross‑functional legal input with other attorneys in the legal department.

Perform other duties as assigned by Associate General Counsel.

Qualifications

Juris Doctor required.

Minimum three years of licensed attorney experience with progressive responsibility in reviewing and negotiating contracts.

Experience in a top-tier law firm or equivalent in‑house experience.

Preferred: in‑house legal department experience, regulated industry exposure, or negotiation of technology services, SaaS transactions.

Gaming license registration as required by applicable jurisdictions.

Substantive knowledge of contract drafting and negotiation principles, with ability to analyze and apply legal precedents.

Basic proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Preferred: experience with a contract management tool.

Salary and Benefits
Annual salary range: $135,000 to $170,000, based on geography, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications. Eligible for a performance-based bonus plan.

Location and Availability
The role may be based in Jersey City, New Jersey, or performed remotely.

Eligibility

Gaming Compliance & Licensing Requirements
As an online gaming company, BetMGM must comply with state gaming regulations, including licensing obligations. Applicants must be licensed by at least one jurisdictional agency; multiple licenses may be required. Failure to maintain licensure may result in termination. The licensing process includes comprehensive background checks.
