Hourly rate of $13.50/20 hours per week

SUMMARY

A student technology intern typically supports day-to-day IT operations while gaining hands-on experience. Duties can vary depending on the environment

Perform all types technology support to include but not limited to:
1. Technical Support (Tier 1 Help Desk)
Respond to basic support requests (in person, email, or ticketing system)
Troubleshoot common issues:

Login/password problems
Network connectivity (Wi-Fi, printers)
Device performance issues

Escalate complex issues to senior IT staff
2. Device Setup & Maintenance
Image and deploy laptops, Chromebooks, or tablets
Install and update software applications
Perform routine maintenance:

OS updates
Virus/malware scans
Hardware checks (battery, peripherals)

Inventory and asset tagging
3. Classroom / End-User Support (in school settings)
Assist teachers with classroom technology:

Projectors, interactive boards, document cameras

Help students with device usage and troubleshooting
Support testing platforms and instructional software
4. Network & Infrastructure Assistance
Assist with basic network tasks:

cabling patching (under supervision)
Checking connectivity

Monitor systems using dashboards or alerts (as assigned)
5. Account & Systems Administration
Help manage user accounts:

Password resets
Account provisioning (under supervision)

Maintain data accuracy in systems (e.g., Google Workspace, Active Directory)
6. Documentation & Inventory
Update documentation (how-to guides, troubleshooting steps)
Maintain inventory records of devices and accessories
Track repairs and replacements
7. Cybersecurity Awareness Support
Follow and reinforce security best practices
Assist with:

Device compliance checks
Identifying phishing or suspicious activity (reporting only)

8. Projects & Special Assignments
Assist with IT projects such as:

Device rollouts
Network upgrades
Software migrations

Participate in pilots of new tools or systems
9. Professional Skills Development
Practice communication with staff and students
Learn ticketing systems and IT workflows
Develop troubleshooting methodology and documentation habits

Work is supervised; limited administrative privileges
Emphasis on learning, reliability, and customer service

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form; ability to use logical thinking to define problems and to use common sense in dealing with problems in standard situations. Must possess good moral character. Requires the ability to deal with people as a team player and the ability to be adaptable and flexible in dealing with supervisors, colleagues, parents, and students.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/REQUIREMENTS

Frequent walking and standing, stooping, climbing, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, handling, pulling, pushing, and lifting of equipment and/or materials weighing up to approximately 50 pounds may be required. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, noise and hazards.
