Crutchfield is seeking a Payroll and Benefits Specialist primarily responsible for accurate, timely payroll processing while serving as a knowledgeable resource for employee benefit questions and benefit billing. This role emphasizes payroll accuracy, compliance with labor laws, and exceptional customer service. While the position does not administer benefits, it supports employees by explaining benefit information and answering benefit questions and partnering with internal teams and vendors to investigate and resolve discrepancies. The Specialist handles sensitive information with a high level of discretion, professionalism, and attention to detail.
As a Payroll and Benefits Specialist, you will:
Process payroll accurately and on schedule, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws and employment regulations.
Investigate, resolve, and communicate payroll discrepancies, including missed punches, unapproved timecards, incorrect pay, and benefit-related deductions.
Respond to employee questions regarding benefits coverage, eligibility, deductions, and payroll impacts related to benefits.
Process enrollments and provide benefits education to employees in collaboration with our Benefits Manager.
Responsible for benefit billing review, reconciliation, and issue resolution in coordination with benefits manager and HR team.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date payroll and benefits-related records within ADP Workforce Now and payroll systems.
Support broader HR functions as needed, demonstrating an active interest in learning and contributing across the HR field.
Expected to travel to and attend meetings at different company facilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
12 years of payroll processing experience, preferably using ADP Workforce Now
12 years of experience working with timekeeping systems
General knowledge of employee benefits and related processes
Understanding of labor laws and employment regulations
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Proficient computer skills, including the ability to learn new systems quickly
Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Excel to organize, analyze, and report on data with accuracy and efficiency
Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently
Strong attention to detail while maintaining awareness of overall objectives
Excellent customer service skills with a professional and approachable demeanor
Ability to navigate complex situations with curiosity, compassion, and patience
Clear and effective communication skills across phone, email, chat, video, and in-person interactions
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP or PHR/SPHR certification is a plus
Following the initial training period, this role operates on a hybrid schedule, with three days per week working onsite and the remaining days remote.
