
Director of Internal Controls and SEC Reporting

LB Pharmaceuticals is seeking an experienced Director of Internal Controls and SEC Reporting to lead the Company’s Sarbanes‑Oxley (SOX) compliance program overseeing the internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR) and directing the preparation and filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
Reporting to the Corporate Controller, this role will be responsible for implementing internal controls for SOX compliance and overseeing filings with the SEC, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP, and maintaining best‑in‑class disclosure controls and reporting processes.
The Director will work cross‑functionally with Finance, Legal, Investor Relations, FP&A, and external auditors to ensure accurate, timely, and transparent reporting. This role is highly visible within the organization and will serve as a strategic partner to the Controller and senior finance leadership as LB Pharmaceuticals advances toward late‑stage clinical development and eventual commercialization.
Key Responsibilities
Internal Controls Framework Leadership & Compliance
Own and oversee the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the company’s internal control environment in compliance with the Sarbanes‑Oxley Act.
Work with retained internal audit to implement controls, test control environment and remediate material weaknesses and significant deficiencies.
Oversee annual risk assessments and scoping to determine key processes, controls, and testing plans.
Partner with process owners across the organization to design new controls, remediate control gaps, and strengthen the control environment.
Maintain up‑to‑date control documentation (process narratives, flowcharts, RCMs).
Liaise with external auditors on control testing activities, walkthroughs, and remediation.
Collaborate closely with third‑party internal auditors, external auditors and technical accounting to support quarterly reviews and annual audits.
Ensure alignment of internal control practices with evolving guidance from the SEC and the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB).
SEC Reporting & External Financial Reporting
Lead the preparation, review, and filing of all periodic and current reports with the SEC, including Form 10‑K and 10‑Q.
Manage the drafting process for financial statements, footnotes, Management Discussion & Analysis (MD&A), and supporting schedules.
Coordinate cross‑functional input from Investor Relations, Legal, FP&A, and executive leadership for non‑financial sections of SEC filings.
Oversee preparation of financial sections for quarterly earnings releases and supplemental financial materials.
Partner with the Controller on the review and assessment of complex accounting matters and new accounting standards under U.S. GAAP, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
Identify opportunities to streamline and automate controls and reporting processes.
Implement best practices around documentation, standardization, and workflow optimization.
Drive system enhancements in collaboration with IT and business partners.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
Experience implementing and maintaining internal control frameworks and SOX compliance.
CPA required.
8–12 years of progressive experience in public company accounting, reporting and internal controls.
Deep understanding of U.S. GAAP, internal control frameworks (COSO) and SOX.
Experience preparing and reviewing SEC Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8‑K, and Proxy statements.
Prior experience in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or life sciences industry preferred.
Technical Skills
Advanced proficiency in Excel.
Experience with SEC filing and disclosure management platforms.
Experience with NetSuite preferred.
The posted salary range reflects the minimum to maximum base pay for this position in the specified location. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, experience, education, licensure requirements, and skill level, and will be determined at the time of offer. Base Salary Range: $209,000 – $219,000.
