Court Operations Associate
Hennepin County District Court has an exciting opportunity to join the Criminal Downtown Team as a Court Operations Associate! This is a diverse, professional environment that promotes equity for all court staff and court customers. Court Operations Associates work individually and in teams using independent judgment along with available resources to perform a variety of administrative assignments. This role requires commitment to providing a professional court experience and an eye for detail, as well as excellent interpersonal communication, time management, and technological skills to match our high-performance environment.
What You Will Do
Perform criminal courtroom clerking; prepare case files for court; check people in, host Zoom for remote calendars as needed; live update court files and complete other criminal case processing as needed
Independently update case information and generate legal documents as decisions are made by the court during proceedings; ensure that electronic messages containing custody, warrant and sentencing information are passing to partner agencies in a timely and accurate manner
Schedule court hearings and send notices to parties/attorneys
Communicate courteously and effectively with court stakeholders by responding to requests for information, answering questions on court policies and procedures.
Perform financial activities including calculating costs and amounts due; receipting fines, fees, and bail via counter and mail payments; balancing tills
Administrative duties as assigned
What You Must Have
High school diploma or equivalent
One (1) year of relevant job experience OR equivalent amount of post-high school education and experience totaling one year
Examples of relevant job experience: customer service, administrative work, office, and clerical work
Nice to Have
Two years of customer service and/or administrative experience
Proficient in Microsoft office Suite, with the ability to learn other job-related software
Experience in a legal setting such as a courtroom, or as a paralegal or legal assistant, with a background in preparing, analyzing, and processing legal documents
Experience with electronic document applications, workflow queues and web-based video audio platforms
Experience handling financial transactions

Logistics The Criminal Downtown teams are located in downtown Minneapolis:
Public Safety Facility: 401 South 4th Street, Suite 134 (first floor)
Hennepin County Government Center: 300 South 6th Street, C-1153 (eleventh floor)
These positions are assigned to the Government Center team but may assist at the Public Safety Facility depending on business needs. Staff are working primarily onsite with potential for occasional remote work, depending on business needs. The core hours for these positions are 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday, but may vary depending on the assignment and operational needs. Salary Range The expected starting salary for external candidates is at least $23.50 per hour or higher, depending on qualifications. This position is non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is eligible for State of Minnesota employee benefits.
