Job Description Summary
This position will provide team and technical leadership in food manufacturing activities in coordination with the safety, quality, production control and new products of the plant. Also, to ensure the safe and cost-effective manufacturing of B&G Foods products to meet the expectations of our customers and consumers.
Schedule: Monday - Thursday | 5:00am - 3:30pm
Responsibilities Include:
Supervise and manage union manufacturing staff by communicating job expectations, scheduling and assigning personnel as required, accomplishing work results, establishing priorities, monitoring progress and resolving problems.
Maintains working relationship with the union by following the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.
Responsible to ensure food safety in all aspects and if necessary to report food safety problems out of his/her realm of responsibility to personnel with the authority to initiate action.
Active member of the HACCP team.
Pre-check raw material quality to be used in production batches.
Monitoring of cooking variables, standards and blending room batches
Verify raw material quantities for the weeks schedule; note shortages (pectin).
Supervise sweeteners, deliveries, pumping, loading/unloading and freezer.
Maintain the plant's quality and sanitation standards. Coordinate with QA department on all product issues, formulation knowledge, lot number rotation, first in, first out.
Follow and enforce all Good Manufacturing Practices. Assume responsibility of a good safe wholesome product being produced safely.
Maintain the plant's safety standard. Participate and work with Safety Committee and rest of management to ensure correct PPE is used and maintained and hazards are corrected and safety policies adhered to. Investigate accidents. Immediately report all unsafe acts and unsafe conditions and ensure resolution.
Ensure employees are adhering to all company polices. Assess and evaluate employees' performances by mentoring, coaching, training and developing employees and perform disciplinary actions and provide termination recommendations when needed. Maintain environment free of harassment and discrimination.
Ensure effective use of all plant control tools (SOPs, etc.) to ensure accurate reporting of production, material, and labor utilization. Ensure timeliness of reporting.
Ensure line efficiencies are meeting plant goals. Monitor yield variances and perform root cause analysis to determine corrective actions as needed.
Utilize resources (approving timecards, labor, materials, other management personnel) to achieve or exceed Plant's production plan.
Participate in physical inventories (cycle counts, etc.)
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Experience, Education, Skills:
Individual must have 3 to 5 years manufacturing experience (minimum 3 years supervision)
Minimum Education: High School Diploma
Possess outstanding communication and leadership skills
Strong organizational skills
Knowledge and understanding of basic chemistry, brix, pH, and acidity
Ability to work in conditions, which include multiple, sometimes competing priorities, extended work hours, and strict deadlines.
Works well in team environment
MS office Knowledge
Ability to train others
Compensation Range:
$67,650.00 - $87,000.00 Annually + 5% Target Bonus
