Front Desk Student Assistant - Center for Global Engagement - IE
The Center for Global Engagement (CGE) is seeking dependable and professional Student Assistants to support front desk operations. This role is ideal for individuals who are personable, organized, and interested in supporting an office that serves students, faculty, staff, and international visitors.
The duties and responsibilities of this position include a wide range of tasks essential to the daily operations of the office. Front desk assistants are expected to greet and direct students, faculty, and visitors, as well as answer telephones in a professional and polite manner. They will also help maintain the main email inbox by forwarding messages in a timely and efficient manner. Additional responsibilities include running errands, sorting and distributing daily mail, and maintaining clear communication through office platforms such as Microsoft Outlook, Calendar, and Teams. Front desk assistants will assist with the setup, execution, and cleanup of meetings, events, and student programming, as well as photocopying, scanning, and filing documents. They are also expected to help maintain clean and organized workspaces, including routine tasks such as making coffee and emptying the dishwasher in the CGE kitchen. Support for CGE staff includes a variety of office projects, such as storage organization, data entry, basic internet research, creating media, and completing special assignments as needed.
Qualifications include experience with the Microsoft Office Suite (including spreadsheet/data management and word processing), strong verbal and written communication skills, a commitment to punctuality and reliability, and the ability to maintain a professional appearance and adhere to the Front Desk Student Assistant dress code.
A commitment to a regular work schedule of approximately 610 hours per week is required, with some flexibility based on staffing needs. As the Center for Global Engagement operates from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, front desk student assistants are scheduled to ensure coverage during these hours.
Students must be degree-seeking students, enrolled on at least a half-time basis (6 credits for undergraduate and 5 credits for graduate).
