Senior Pension Analyst
We are seeking a detail-oriented and client-focused Senior Pension Analyst to support the administration of defined benefit pension plans across single employer, public employer, and multi-employer environments. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate benefit calculations, clear participant communications, and compliance with applicable pension regulations.
The ideal candidate enjoys working with numbers, interpreting plan provisions, and collaborating with both clients and internal teams to deliver high-quality pension administration services.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare individual benefit calculations and recurring benefit statements for defined benefit pension plans.
Prepare pension distribution forms and participant correspondence.
Analyze and research plan documents, provisions, and administrative practices to support accurate benefit calculations and participant questions.
Respond to participant inquiries verbally and in writing with professionalism, clarity, and accuracy; serve as a Service Center representative when needed.
Maintain detailed, accurate, and well-organized electronic records.
Support new client transitions, including documentation, calculations, process manuals, and participant communications.
Support annual government filings and related compliance deliverables, as applicable.
Communicate effectively with clients, plan participants, and internal stakeholders regarding deliverables, timelines, and status updates.
Take ownership of work quality, accuracy, and timeliness, meeting service level agreements and internal deadlines.
Work collaboratively within a team environment while demonstrating individual initiative.
Adhere to hybrid work expectations, including being in the office three days per week (exceptions may be provided on an ad-hoc basis).
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor's degree in a related field.
Experience with pension administration systems; DBPrecision experience preferred.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly in participant-facing communications.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to explain technical concepts in a clear, approachable manner.
Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills; actuarial math experience is a plus.
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
Familiarity with IRS and DOL regulations applicable to defined benefit plans, including: Pension Protection Act, IRC Sections 401(a)(17), 415(b), 417(e), and 409(a), Relative Value, RASD, and Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs).
Experience supporting defined benefit government filings is a plus.
Experience reviewing and qualifying Domestic Relations Orders (DROs) is a plus.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and quality standards.
