
Facilities Assessment Project Associate

Responsibilities
ECS is seeking a Facilities Assessment Project Associate to join our Florida Building Science + Infrastructure team in West Palm Beach, FL. In this role, you will lead and manage facilities assessment and due diligence consulting projects, including performing property condition assessments (PCAs), technical analysis, and report preparation. You will work with multidisciplinary teams to execute assessments, pre- & post-construction surveys, accessibility assessments, and related services while providing guidance to junior staff. This position offers a balance of field and office responsibilities, with opportunities to contribute to project management, client interaction, and the delivery of high-quality facilities assessment consulting services.
Technical & Field Work
Perform property/facility condition assessments, facility needs assessments, pre- & post- construction surveys, accessibility assessments, among other facilities-related services under some supervision.
Demonstrate good understanding of buildings and building systems (MEP, FLS, etc.) and good experience with data collection.
Demonstrate good knowledge of ASTM standard E2018 and basic knowledge of building codes.
Perform pre and post construction surveys. Tasks may include documenting target properties, reviewing or creating photo archives, etc.
Perform FCA's with some supervision. Tasks may be associated with assessment management, data collection, and inventory/database update. Assist with remaining useful life, cost estimates, capital planning, etc.
Project Management
Coordinate and attend project meetings, providing solutions to technical and administrative issues as necessary.
Manage project budgets. Prepare change orders, invoices, and assist with collection efforts. Proactively communicate with the project team about testing or budget concerns.
Prioritize tasks to meet project deadlines. Consult with your supervisor to help prioritize tasks on a weekly basis.
Initiate project set up and implementation with limited supervision.
Management of building science & infrastructure projects including the application of technical support. Responsible for several projects being performed simultaneously.
Prepare proposals and change orders.
Review reports produced by field staff. Perform routine visits to active project sites to ensure appropriate quality and progress. Communicate project completion milestones with client and advise on any significant directional changes.
Communicate or coordinate with junior staff to direct field work performed by subcontractors and ECS technicians. Likely will require managing and/or performing multiple projects simultaneously.
Client Interaction & Team Collaboration
Collaborate with staff members on a variety of projects. Actively mentor junior staff and support overall development of the team.
Interface with clients on a daily regular basis. Maintain and develop a client database.
Host or attend project discussions with clients, follow up on reports to determine if there are questions.
Documentation & Reporting
Possess strong technical writing skills with regard to basic conventions of spelling, grammar, and professional content/tone. Know, understand, and use standard industry terms and jargon. Effectively proofread your own written work.
Prepare building science & infrastructure reports, perform analysis, and provide recommendations for review by senior staff.
Perform review of deliverables prepared by subordinate staff prior to submission for senior and principal review.

Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Architecture (NCARB), or a related field.
4+ years of related experience with conducting property/facility condition assessments.
Knowledge & Skills
Good knowledge of building science & infrastructure principles and applications.
Good knowledge of building and materials codes and construction practices.
Good knowledge of structural, architectural, and building systems, design, and/or analysis.
Excellent oral & written communication skills.
Dependable, self‑motivated, responsible and detail‑oriented.
Ability to work effectively in teams, with clients, peers and subordinates, as well as independently.
Willing to take and follow detailed direction from superiors.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds, stand for extended periods, walk on uneven terrain, and perform work at heights.
Additional Requirements
Valid driver’s license required if driving for or on behalf of an ECS subsidiary.
