Fixed Income Technology is seeking a strong, motivated senior technology leader to be part of Global Trading Solutions’ Commodities Technology team. The individual would be responsible for designing, delivering and operating the trading systems that support Commodities desks (Energy, Metals, Agriculture and Environmental Products).
The role leads front office engineering teams and acts as the primary technology partner to Commodities Trading desk and product owner. A successful candidate has a keen interest in developing resilient, scalable and compliant trading system in Java while enabling increasing levels of automation and electronic execution across the Commodities trading flows. This role blends hands‑on technical leadership, architecture ownership, and business partnership, with accountability for production stability, performance, and strategic evolution of the Commodities trading stack.
Responsibilities
Own the end-to-end Commodities trading technology platforms including electronic execution and RFQ workflows, Order Management Systems (OMS), Trade Capture, lifecycle management and amendments, Real-time pricing, Risk and position views.
Define and evolve the technical strategy with low latency, event-driven, architecture suitable for electronic Commodities trading.
Drive adoption of microservices, streaming, and resilient design patterns across pricing and execution flows.
Manage real‑time integrations with Trading venues and protocols.
Market data and pricing sources and Risk, position, and downstream systems.
Translate trading and product requirements into clear technical designs and delivery plans.
Lead multi-year technology initiatives (e.g. OMS modernization, lifecycle automation, venue onboarding).
Create thorough test cases to ensure software stability and reliability.
Partner closely with operations and production support teams on new features and existing strategy behaviors.
Support production issues, including independently completing root‑cause analysis and diagnosis.
Communicate clearly with senior business and technology leadership on: Define realistic Delivery plans, Roadmap progress, Production risk and Strategic tradeoffs.
Requirements
BA/BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
5+ years of professional core Java development experience building Front‑Office Commodities Trading Technology solutions.
Solid understanding of commodities markets (Energy, Metals, Agriculture, Environmental Products), markets structure and trading workflows.
Proven experience leading engineering teams in high‑stakes trading environments.
Experience owning production systems with direct trader impact.
Hands‑on background with real‑time systems with performance optimization.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills; eager to ask questions; able to clearly explain ideas.
Strong collaborative and team skills.
Strong JUnit testing skills.
Salary
$112,200.00 - $209,000.00
