About the Opportunity
In December 2024, United Engineers and Constructors was acquired by Aecon Group Inc. We are looking for a Sr. Mechanical Engineer to support a number of our nuclear power plant projects. The successful candidate will work as part of a team of engineers and designers preparing modification packages for mechanical systems serving the nuclear power industry.

What You'll Do Here:

Develop design modification packages for mechanical systems at a nuclear power plant.

Perform engineering calculations such as hydraulic analysis, equipment sizing, HVAC sizing, heat load analysis, and pressure loss calculations.

Develop mechanical design and procurement specifications.

Prepare engineering drawings such as Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&ID), General Arrangement (GA), Equipment Plan, Piping Orthographic and Isometric drawings.

Develop material and workhour estimates as well as engineering and design schedules.

Exercise sound engineering judgment in assessing problem situations or complex issues, review completed work to ensure accuracy and compliance with codes and design criteria.

Interface with plant stakeholders to determine project scope/requirements, support construction/implementation and start up activities as required.

What You Bring To The Team:

Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from a four-year accredited college or university

Minimum of 5-10 years of relevant experience (4 years nuclear) in the mechanical engineering field.

The ability to obtain unescorted access to a nuclear power plant.

Nice to Have:

NANTeL Certified in the Nuclear Standard Design Process (IP-ENG-01)

Professional Engineering (PE) license in US

Experience with fluid flow software (AFT FATHOM, or Equivalent)

Experience with Fire Protection and Detection Systems

This position requires access to nuclear facilities and information governed by U.S. federal regulations. As a result, applicants must be U.S. citizens to meet eligibility and security clearance requirements.

Pay and Benefits
Pay Range: $100,000 - $150,000 per year

Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions. Other considerations may include certifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role.
