We have an opening for full-time Pastry Prep/Production positions.
Location: Marcel - 945 Madison Avenue, New York, NY 10021. Note: online applications accepted only.
Schedule: Full-time schedule. Open availability, shifts may vary. More details available upon interview.
Requirement: Prior experience in pastry/baking and upscale dining is preferred.
Fixed Pay Rate: $25.00 per hour.
Marcel is a new continental restaurant in the iconic Breuer building on Madison Avenue. The restaurant is a partnership between the design brand Roman and Williams and Sotheby's, whose future New York headquarters will be in the Breuer. Marcel is Roman and Williams' second restaurant, following their celebrated downtown restaurant La Mercerie, and will also include La Mercerie Patisserie.
Prepares baked goods according to recipes and production specifications. Essential duties and responsibilities include baking breads, pies, cakes, cookies and other pastries as necessary per the provided production and catering sheets; assisting in production planning to meet daily requirements; ensuring proper food preparation by utilizing approved recipes, following prescribed production standards and use of proper equipment; assisting with the completion of production records to include waste tracking, used/unused portions and product shortages; ensuring proper presentation, food quality, portion control and maintenance of proper serving temperatures; maintaining sanitation and orderliness of all equipment, supplies and utensils within work area; handling food items appropriately and with all safety regulations in mind during preparation and service; cleaning equipment and workstation thoroughly before leaving the area for other assignments; interacting with customers and resolving customer complaints in a friendly and customer-service oriented manner; consistently exhibiting the ability to keep up with peak production and service calmly, accurately and efficiently; checking to ensure that all food is presented, served and displayed per standards; following principles of sanitation and safety in handling food and equipment, ensuring corporate and OSHA safety standards are followed; completing shift work, as assigned, in a timely and thorough manner in accordance with department standards; and performing other duties as assigned.
