Job Summary
The Tool and Mold Maker is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining mold tooling to support high-volume production molding operations.
Essential Functions:
Perform preventative maintenance including lubricating, cleaning, polishing, and deburring of molds and related components
Repair molds to support production demand and the manufacturing machine operators
Works with Sr. Tool and Mold Maker on disassembly, repair, and re-assembly of heated manifolds, runners, water lines, cores, cams, and ejector pins
Fabricate and build mold components such as ejector pins or blades
Follow blueprints and engineering drawings to determine dimensions and tolerances
Set up and operate tool room equipment, including manual mills, lathes, and grinders
Use a variety of tool maker and machine tools
Use a variety of precision toolmaker measuring instruments
Participate in mold and design for manufacturability reviews
Maintains organized work area to maximize efficiency and safety
Work independently with no supervision
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications, Education, Skills, and/or Experience Required
High School Diploma/GED Required
3 years of previous relevant experience required (CNC, Swiss, Mold Making, etc)
Previous machining experience maintaining plastic injection molds and related tooling preferred
Experience in setup and operation of manual mills, lathes, and grinders preferred
CNC machinist experience preferred but not required
Physical Requirements:
Able to lift up to 40 pounds
Standing, walking, bending, kneeling, lifting, pushing-pulling, and reaching throughout the entire shift.
Manual dexterity or fine motor skills
Ability to operate heavy machinery
