The Swing Shift Foreman oversees second-shift operations across fabrication, material processing, and machining. This role ensures safe, efficient, and high-quality production while leading teams through Leads and aligning all activities with production schedules and company standards.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
Lead fabrication, processing, and machine shop personnel through department leads
Provide daily direction, coaching, and accountability
Foster a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement
Production Planning & Execution
Plan and assign daily work based on schedules
Coordinate workflow between processing, machining, and fabrication
Ensure all work orders, prints, and materials are ready for production
Adjust manpower and priorities to meet deadlines
Performance Management
Track production rates, efficiency, and schedule adherence
Monitor crew productivity and equipment utilization
Identify and resolve bottlenecks
Quality Oversight
Ensure compliance with ASME/API codes and WPS requirements
Maintain weld quality and dimensional accuracy
Ensure traceability, labeling, and documentation
Partner with QA/QC to prevent and resolve defects
Safety & Equipment
Enforce PPE and safety procedures
Ensure safe operation of all shop equipment
Maintain housekeeping and coordinate maintenance
Workforce Development
Execute structured evaluation and progression system
Train and mentor employees across departments
Support cross-training and internal promotions
Develop high performers and reduce turnover
