Financial Program Assistant

Black Hills State University seeks applicants to fill a Financial Program Assistant position.
Duties:
Adhere to and enforce the BOR policy regarding collection of tuition and fees.
Be a liaison between the University and students by answering questions on tuition and fee charges, applying payments to student accounts, assisting with payment plans, and sending delinquent accounts to collections.
Processes AR transactions by receipting the University department's revenue, balancing and closing cashier sessions and tuition sessions, and calling students to follow up on attendance and outstanding balances.
Negotiate and create in-house payment plans.
Review and identify possible billing errors.
Update ARHOLDS on student accounts.
Update student type profile for SDNG students.
Serve as a leader for the Cashiers' office and respond to questions and issues as they arise. Complete unscheduled cash audits for temporary and permanent change funds held in departments across campus.
Prepare monthly JVs for grants, ORC, and Foundation transactions.
Monitor in-house payment plans.
Participate in New Student Orientation.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Generally accounting principles and practices, ability to manage cash collection and reconciliation of receipts with cash drawers, ability to understand a student's questions and concerns and then to respond professionally and assist with solutions, establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, managers, and representatives of other agencies and departments.
