Property Accountant

Full-Time | Hybrid | Washington, DC

We’re seeking a motivated, hands-on Property Accountant to support full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of affordable housing and multifamily real estate assets. This role works closely with asset management, development managers, and property managers and plays a key part in ensuring accurate financial reporting across operating and development properties.

Key Responsibilities

• Full-cycle accounting for multifamily and affordable housing properties


• Review and reconcile third‑party property manager financials


• Track GP/LP activity, fees, releases, and investor reporting


• Monitor intercompany loans, transactions, and reconciliations


• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements


• Support audits, tax prep, surplus cash calculations, and workpaper packages


• Manage construction draws, CIP activity, loan transactions, and bank reconciliations


• Collaborate on budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis


• Support transitions from development to operations and ensure GAAP compliance

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA/CMA preferred


• 3–7 years of accounting experience—real estate, LIHTC, multifamily, or affordable housing strongly preferred


• Strong GAAP knowledge, financial statement prep, and audit coordination


• Experience with accounting software; Sage Intacct a plus


• Advanced Excel skills


• Collaborative, assertive communicator; strong attention to detail
