OVERVIEW OF THE ACCOUNTING SPECIALIST ROLE:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounting Specialist to support the finance team with Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and collections activities. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and ensuring timely payments and collections to support overall cash flow management.
ACCOUNTING SPECIALIST RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Process vendor invoices, ensuring accuracy and proper approval
- Match purchase orders, receipts, and invoices
- The Accounting Specialist will prepare and execute payment runs (checks, ACH, wire transfers)
- Maintain vendor records and resolve discrepancies
- Monitor aging reports and ensure timely payments
- Generate and distribute customer invoices
- The Accounting Specialist will apply payments and reconcile customer accounts
- Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies
- Maintain accurate AR records and documentation
- Monitor overdue accounts and follow up with customers
- The Accounting Specialist will document collection activities and update account status
- Escalate delinquent accounts as needed
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS OF THE ACCOUNTING SPECIALIST ROLE:
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance preferred)
- 2–3 years of experience in accounting, AP/AR, or collections
- Basic understanding of accounting principles
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (QuickBooks, SAP, or similar)
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
