Cost Accountant (Onsite)
Location: Morristown, Tennessee
Salary: $90,000 – $110,000 annually

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Cost Accountant to join our team in Morristown, TN. This fully onsite role is critical to understanding and improving product costing, margins, and overall financial performance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cost accounting, with the ability to analyze variances, support pricing strategies, and provide meaningful financial insights to operations and leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Cost Accounting & Analysis

• Develop and maintain accurate product costing, including standard and actual costs


• Analyze and report on cost variances (material, labor, overhead) and provide actionable insights


• Monitor and evaluate margins across products and business lines

Financial Reporting & Insights

• Prepare and deliver detailed financial and cost reports to support business decisions


• Assist in month-end close, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance explanations


• Support budgeting and forecasting processes with a focus on cost drivers and profitability

Inventory & Logistics Costing

• Manage and analyze inventory valuation, movements, and reserves


• Understand and track logistics and freight costs impacting overall product cost


• Distinguish and report on purchase price vs. landed cost, ensuring accurate cost allocation

Pricing & Operational Support

• Partner with operations and leadership to evaluate pricing structures and profitability


• Provide cost data and analysis to support pricing decisions and strategic initiatives


• Identify cost-saving opportunities and process improvements across the supply chain

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field


• 5+ years of experience in cost accounting, preferably in manufacturing or distribution environments


• Strong understanding of margins, variance analysis, and cost reporting


• Experience with inventory accounting, logistics costs, and pricing structures


• Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel
