Accounting Manager Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close process
- Oversee general ledger activity, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness
- Manage and refine cost accounting processes, including:
- Standard costing and variance analysis
- Inventory valuation and controls
- Bill of materials (BOM) accuracy
- Analyze and report on manufacturing variances (labor, material, overhead) and provide actionable insights
- Partner closely with operations and plant leadership to understand cost drivers and improve performance
- Ensure accuracy of inventory accounting, including cycle counts, physical inventories, and adjustments
- Drive process improvements and internal control enhancements related to inventory and costing
- Assist with audit support, including inventory observations and documentation
Qualifications
- 5–10+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Experience within manufacturing or product-based environments required
- Strong understanding of:
- Cost accounting and standard costing methodologies
- Inventory accounting and controls
- General ledger and close processes
- Experience analyzing COGS, margins, and operational performance metrics
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA or CMA a plus)
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, etc.) preferred
