Senior Accountant (Path to Accounting Manager)

Salary: $100,000 – $125,000
Location: Aurora, CO (Hybrid)

We are partnering with a growing, mission-driven organization in the Denver metro area that is adding a Senior Accountant to its team. This is a high-impact Senior Accountant role designed for someone who wants more than just month-end close—you’ll gain exposure to leadership, take ownership of key financial processes, and play a meaningful role in scaling the accounting function.

This Senior Accountant position is ideal for someone looking for a clear path into Accounting Manager and eventually Controller, with the opportunity to build both technical expertise and leadership skills along the way.

What You’ll Be Doing as a Senior Accountant

• Take ownership of the monthly and quarterly close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness


• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis


• Produce and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP


• Support and help drive revenue recognition (ASC 606) in a project-based, contract-driven environment


• Partner with operations to align project-level financials, including revenue and cost tracking


• Collaborate cross-functionally to improve cost allocation, reporting, and financial visibility


• Assist with audit preparation, including schedules, support, and technical accounting documentation


• Identify and implement process improvements, internal controls, and system enhancements


• Mentor junior staff and begin developing leadership and review responsibilities


• Contribute to ongoing improvements in ERP systems and reporting tools

What We’re Looking For in Senior Accountant

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance


• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience


• Experience in a Senior Accountant capacity or prior leadership exposure


• Strong understanding of GAAP and technical accounting concepts


• Experience supporting audits and working with external auditors


• Experience in a multi-entity or project-based environment
