Special Education Assistant
Greenwood School District 50 is seeking dedicated and compassionate Special Education Assistants to support students and teachers in creating a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment. Responsibilities include assisting the classroom teacher and providing direct support to students as outlined in their IEPs. The role also involves supervising and assisting assigned students throughout the school day, including during transitions, meals, and classroom activities. Confidentiality and professional conduct are required at all times. Participation in training and professional development as assigned is also part of the role. Building supportive relationships with students, staff, and families is essential. Qualifications include sixty (60) semester hours of postsecondary coursework, or an associate's degree, or successful completion of the ParaPro Assessment. Strong communication and teamwork skills are necessary, along with the ability to support students with patience, empathy, and consistency. Physical ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs. and assist with student mobility as needed is required. Work schedule is 180 days per year, 7.5 hours per day, with salary determined by the district's Classified Salary Schedule.
