Position Summary
Responsible for welding pipe for various piping systems from isometric drawings and blueprints in cooperation with a pipefitter.

Responsibilities

Promote and comply with all Company and safety policies and procedures

Weld several types of pipe depending on work awarded

Assist pipefitter with lay out, positioning, aligning and fitting components

Bolt, clamp and tack-weld parts to secure in position for welding

Set up equipment and welds parts using arc, gas-shielded arc, submerged arc or gas welding equipment

Assemble parts by bolting and riveting

Repair products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping and reassembling parts using cutting torch, straightening press and hand tools

May be required to travel to different jobsites on limited notice

Maintain a professional appearance

Other duties as assigned by Foreman or Superintendent

Qualifications
Education and Work Experience Requirements

4+ years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience

High School Diploma or GED Certification (preferred)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Be knowledgeable of MIC Health and Safety programs and project specific regulations.

When on-site, actively participate in daily toolbox meetings with crews and subcontractors.

Set a personal example of safe behavior.

Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals

Basic arithmetic and measurement skills related to units weight, measurement and volume

Ability to follow written or oral instructions with precision

Ability to work within precise standards of accuracy and follow set procedures and standards

Ability to read drawings and visualize how objects would look as solid objects with height, width and depth

Other duties as assigned

Physical Demands

Work up to a 12-hour shift doing hard physical work in varying temperatures and outside conditions

May need to maintain physical strength and stamina; use arms, hands, and legs; push, pull, and frequently lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds; stoop, kneel, balance, crouch, crawl, and climb

Stamina to perform tasks repetitively for several hour intervals

Exposure to varied environmental conditions and elements

Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (safety toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest, etc.)

Move in and around confined, cluttered, and uneven areas; may work at heights with fall-protection requirements

Visual and hearing acuity; coordination of eyes, hands and feet

Hours
This position is a Full-Time position scheduled to work typically 50 hours per week. Schedule is subject to project requirements.

Travel
Travel required up to 90%. Position requires presence directly on the Project Site location with intermittent travel to residence of record.
