TITLE: SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR
DEPARTMENT: INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
REPORTS TO: VP, INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
PAY SCALE: $83,000 - $88,000
Sacramento Credit Union is seeking a candidate to join our IT team as a Systems Administrator in our downtown Sacramento corporate headquarters.
This position is responsible for managing, maintaining, and supporting the organization’s Windows‑based server and virtualization infrastructure. This role oversees Windows Server environments, Active Directory, Group Policy, Microsoft 365, and identity/access services while ensuring system reliability, security, and performance. The administrator installs, configures, and maintains VMware virtualization hosts and virtual machines, performs regular system updates and patching, and manages enterprise backup and recovery operations using Veeam Backup & Replication.
An individual who enjoys working closely with business and user groups to identify and initiate projects would be successful in our environment.
WORK SCHEDULE & ENVIRONMENT:
Monday – Friday 8:00AM – 5:00PM
Work is performed in a normal business office environment. Occasional travel to other branches and weekend work may be required.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Maintain network servers in a Windows environment
Manage virtualized server infrastructure
Support Microsoft network administration duties, including Active Directory, Group Policy, Microsoft 365
Perform required updates and system configuration tasks to ensure availability and performance of servers
Install and configure computer software on servers and workstations
Plan and perform ongoing maintenance tasks for all servers
Troubleshoot and diagnose server related issues
Maintain network and system security
Monitor/maintain data back-up system
Install, maintain and configure network systems including routers, switches and firewalls
Maintain and support IP based phone system and related servers and applications
Perform in-house data processing system tasks.
Create/maintain administrative and technical documentation for configuration, maintenance and system processes
Manage desktop computers, printers and miscellaneous office equipment
Provide technical support for end users at all locations
Research, recommend, and implement new technology
Provide end user training on new systems and processes
Work with outside vendors/consultants on designated projects
NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent work experience.
Minimum of two years of experience as a System Administrator, Network Administrator or similar role, preferably in a financial institution
Strong knowledge of Windows Server Administration
Knowledge of Microsoft 365, including Entra ID and Intune.
Experience managing VMWare environments.
Familiarity with PowerShell or other scripting languages.
Knowledge of monitoring tools and techniques.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate technical issues to non-technical users.
Able to adapt to constantly changing technical environments.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
Familiarity with financial institution operations
Related Certifications
Experience in a small or midsize business (SMB) is preferred
Ability to work efficiently in a fast paced, team environment
Ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple projects, tasks and responsibilities
Availability for occasional local travel to SCU locations
May work additional/irregular hours, including weekends, nights, or holidays, as needed
Ability to work effectively with a group of people with diverse abilities and backgrounds
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Employees may experience the following physical demands for extended periods of time:
Stand for long periods, up to 60% of the time.
View computer screen, up to 70% of the time.
Bend/stoop and lift computers, printers, paper up to 40 pounds, up to 10% of the time.
