General Summary
The Assistant Housekeeper is responsible for routine cleaning tasks following established performance standards to ensure cleanliness and safety in patient rooms, office spaces, and ancillary areas.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Clean assigned patient rooms and ancillary areas daily, adhering to procedures and guidelines.
Maintain cleanliness of office spaces according to policy.
Use appropriate cleaning agents for assigned tasks.
Secure and store cleaning carts properly.
Keep housekeeping carts and janitor closets organized and tidy at all times.
Complete daily cleaning logs accurately and submit them to supervisors.
Report any issues related to cleaning, maintenance, equipment, safety, or facility repairs promptly to the appropriate department.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Basic literacy and ability to follow written and verbal instructions are essential. Willingness to learn additional tasks and duties is important.
Experience
0-3 months of housekeeping or floor care experience preferred but not required; on-the-job training is provided.
Certification/License
Not applicable.
Mental/Physical Requirements
Ability to read, write, and perform basic math.
Good communication skills.
Ability to organize work effectively.
Physical ability to stoop, bend, reach, twist, lift up to 40 pounds, and push carts weighing up to 300 pounds.
Basic computer skills.
Capability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Ability to safely use cleaning chemicals and operate housekeeping equipment.
Working Conditions
May encounter unpleasant odors, body fluids, and potential exposure to infectious diseases. Exposure to cleaning chemicals and wet or slick floor surfaces is expected. Work environment may include areas containing medications.
