The Fort Pitt Museum, located in historic Point State Park in downtown Pittsburgh, is a two-floor, 12,000-square-foot museum that tells the story of Western Pennsylvania's pivotal role during the French & Indian War, the American Revolution, and as the birthplace of Pittsburgh. The strategic location of the fort at the Forks of the Ohio River helped to shape the course of American and world history. First opened in 1969 in a reconstructed bastion, the Fort Pitt Museum provides visitors with a rich understanding of the world-changing events that occurred right here in Western Pennsylvania. Through interactive exhibitions, life-like historical figures, and recently added artifacts, visitors will learn the important role our region played in shaping the United States.
The Senator John Heinz History Center, the largest history museum in Pennsylvania and an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution, is seeking a part-time, Housekeeper for the Fort Pitt Museum to work, 8:00AM -4:30PM including weekends. While these are the primary hours for this position, flexibility is expected as Fort Pitt business dictates. The Housekeeper is responsible for all activities related to the cleanliness of the facility including care of bathrooms, floor care (mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, carpet scrubbing), dusting, wall care, and daily refuge. Perform duties required for the efficient and effective operation of the facility.
This is a part-time position reporting to the Education and Living History Program Manager.
Requirements
High school education or equivalent with minimum of two years of housekeeping experience.
Excellent organizational and communication skills required.
The job requires the ability to be both a multi-team player as well as function independently with a lot of self-motivation.
This position is physically demanding requiring extensive, lifting, bending, walking, and standing.
The job also requires the ability for an attention to detail and the ability to notice what must be done without be told.
The successful candidate will possess a love for cleaning and an eye for detail.
Must be available to work weekends and holidays.
