Assistant to the Treasurer
Reports to: Treasurer
Class: Administrative, Non-Union
Assignment: 260 days (includes vacation, sick, and personal leave)
Hours: 7:00 am 3:00 pm daily (full-time)
Starting salary: Established by the Board of Education, commensurate with experience & qualifications
Position description: The Assistant to the Treasurer is responsible for accurately and efficiently processing payroll for school district employees in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, Ohio public school requirements, negotiated agreements, and Board policies. This position works closely with the Treasurer, Superintendent, and Administration to ensure timely and accurate compensation for all employees.
Preferred qualifications:
Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent
Experience in fiscal operations (accounting, business, etc.)
Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities
Maintains attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent organizational skills
Experience in payroll software
Proficient in computer applications (Google Suite)
Strong service orientation and communication skills
Experience working in a school setting
Essential duties and responsibilities:
Process payroll reports for all employees including withholdings, benefits, deductions, direct deposit, and leave data
Responsible for monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll reports
Files all city, state, and federal taxes
Prepares employee W-2 forms
Processes union dues, severance pay, salary adjustments, contractual payments
Prepares and submits SERS/STRS reports and forms on web-based platform
Verifies salary calculations and Board approvals
Maintains student activity accounting
Secures substitute coverage for classified employees and records attendance
Processes new hires, terminations, leaves, and retroactive payments
Performs other duties as assigned by the Treasurer
Working conditions: Office environment with regular interaction with staff and administrators
