Accounts Payable Clerk

Location: District Office Hours: 7:30am-4:00pm
Qualifications: Associates degree in accounting or related field; with coursework in business, technology, or educational field preferred. Minimum of two years of experience in accounting or other business related field preferred. Strong aptitude for computer software, database management and overall technology concepts, specifically spreadsheet applications. Ability to relate successfully with staff; and adhere to confidentiality in all situations. Ability to maintain accurate records, filing systems, and organize varied tasks effectively while paying close attention to detail. Effective oral and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and to complete responsibilities as scheduled. Basic understanding of accounting principles. Reports to: Controller and Executive Director of Business Services
Job Goal

This position will be responsible for providing support to a district level director and/or executive director, for the overall operations of a specific department or division.
Performance Responsibilities

Process, reconcile, and distribute accounts payable checks.
Process, reconcile, and distribute assigned departments/areas of processing.
Open/process U.S. and district mail daily.
Print and enter district purchase requisitions and orders.
Correspond in writing or via telephone with external staff and vendors.
Process void purchase orders.
Assist district staff with review of expenditure/revenue ledger reports.
Prepare monthly reports for board members.
Maintain district fixed asset records while keeping a perpetual inventory.
Prepare and enter journal entries as needed for corrections or reclassifications.
Assist in the ordering and inventory supplies for the business department.
Maintain vendor and accounts payable records and files; reconcile vendor statements.
Provide assistance, backup, and support in the business department; communicate answers to district employees' questions.
Possess the ability to make decisions in absence of the district level director and/or executive director.
Provide an appropriate role model for students, staff, and public.
Other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands

Must be capable of sitting throughout the work day. Must present appropriate appearance and personal cleanliness suited to working in close proximity to students and adults. Must be able to work with interruptions during a work shift. Must be capable of working with students with different personalities, capabilities, and physical and mental limitations. Must be capable of working in a noisy environment. May be required to stand occasionally throughout the day or during school events. Must be capable occasionally of lifting up to 50 pounds to waist level. Must be capable occasionally of carrying 25 pounds at waist level for a distance of 100 feet.
Terms of Employment

Twelve-month employment. Compensation starting at: $20.00/hour (Hourly rate will be based on skills and experience.) Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Classified Personnel.
