Associate Dispatcher - Night Shift
Take charge of switchboard operations, alarm monitoring, and after-hours answering services, serving as the central communications hub for the facility. This role involves disseminating information efficiently and maintaining accurate departmental records. The position includes split shifts: 11 PM to 7 AM and 3 PM to 11 PM.
Essential Responsibilities
Monitor and dispatch internal emergency responses aligned with regional standardized emergency codes integrated with life and facility safety alarms.
Provide timely information dissemination and maintain thorough departmental documentation.
Collaborate closely with 911 dispatch centers during emergency situations.
Serve as the Communication Center during Incident Command System activations for internal or external disasters such as mass casualty events or severe weather conditions.
Receive after-hours calls and route them appropriately as directed.
Demonstrate proficiency in managing communications via switchboard, public address systems, and various written, oral, and electronic methods.
Utilize on-call systems efficiently, interpreting schedules and adhering to telecommunications protocols for staff contact.
Operate in alignment with the organization's mission, vision, and values.
Comply with privacy and security regulations concerning Protected Health Information (PHI).
Maintain professional and effective communication with patients, team members, contractors, physicians, peers, external agencies, and the public.
General Responsibilities
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Education
Preferred: Associate's Degree or higher in communications or a related field.
Experience
Preferred: Previous switchboard or dispatching experience and at least one year of office or healthcare employment.
Requirements
Strong active listening skills across various communication formats.
Customer service background with moderate computer proficiency.
Keyboarding skills and effective communication abilities.
Familiarity with medical terminology.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs such as Excel and Word.
Physical Requirements
This is primarily sedentary work, occasionally requiring exertion of up to 10 lbs and frequent exertion of up to 5 lbs. Less than 10% of the day may involve standing or walking. Accommodations may be provided as needed.
