Take charge of switchboard operations, alarm monitoring, and after-hours answering services as the central communications hub for a regional healthcare facility in the Midwest. This full-time role operates Monday through Friday from 7 AM to 3 PM, ensuring smooth information flow and maintaining departmental records.
Essential Responsibilities Monitor and dispatch internal emergency responses aligned with standardized emergency codes and facility safety alarms.
Collaborate closely with 911 dispatchers during critical situations.
Serve as the Communication Center during incident command activations for internal or external emergencies such as mass casualty events or severe weather.
Handle after-hours calls and route them appropriately.
Demonstrate proficiency in managing switchboard, public address systems, and various communication methods including written, oral, and electronic.
Utilize on-call systems efficiently, interpreting schedules and adhering to telecommunications protocols.
Maintain compliance with privacy and security regulations concerning protected health information (PHI).
Foster effective communication and professional relationships with patients, team members, contractors, physicians, outside agencies, and the public.
General Responsibilities Perform additional duties as assigned.
Education Preferred: Associate's Degree or higher in communications or a related field.
Experience Preferred: Previous switchboard or dispatching experience and at least one year of office or healthcare employment.
Requirements Strong active listening skills across multiple communication formats.
Customer service expertise.
Moderate computer proficiency including keyboarding and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Ability to communicate effectively and professionally.
This is primarily sedentary work with occasional exertion up to 10 lbs and minimal standing or walking.
