Travel Pathology Assistant - $3,400 per week

The Pathologists' Assistant is responsible for the preparation, gross description and dissection of surgical pathology specimens and the performance of postmortem examinations under the medical direction of the pathologist(s) while implementing the hospital and laboratory missions, goals and objectives. Performs general Pathologist's Assistant duties with minimum supervision. Also, Reviews patient history at time of grossing. Communicates in a professional manner with clinicians regarding submitted specimens when necessary. Gross photographs when needed. Performs tissue selection for special studies, when needed, Assist with the processing of frozen section specimens Oversee operation of the surgical pathology grossing room including oversight of technical assistants, specimen accessioning and processing, and maintenance of workflow to the Pathologists. Maintains adequate levels of supplies and properly functioning instruments in the grossing room, to include troubleshooting issues with cryostat between service appointments. Performs photomicrographs for tumor conference. Reviews and designated appropriate limb to be discarded. (PA)ASCP required.
