Reporting directly to the Principal, this position serves as the main contact for parents and guardians, supporting students and cultivating relationships within the school community.
The Dean leads efforts to integrate values and character development into the classroom, ensuring a productive and creative environment.
They are highly visible during school hours, actively circulating to understand and support student behavior while coordinating cross-school instructional and cultural initiatives.
The role also involves managing and leading transitional experiences and school-wide operations.
As a key point person for discipline and culture issues, the Dean of Students implements an effective school-wide behavior plan.
They assist teachers in improving instructional practices related to discipline and school culture and model positive student interactions.
The Dean supports the development of individual behavior plans with the collaboration of the school's Social Worker or Guidance Counselor and addresses acute discipline issues.
Communication with families about attendance and truancy is a significant part of the role, requiring exemplary communication skills and ideally fluency in Spanish, as much of the work is conducted via phone calls.
In addition to discipline and communication responsibilities, the Dean of Students is also involved in teacher coaching and professional development.
This includes planning and implementing ongoing professional development activities and providing feedback to staff on building positive student relationships and fostering a strong classroom community.
