Job Summary
The Regional General Manager is responsible for leading day-to-day operations across the Company’s Northeast region, with full ownership of driver capacity, service execution, and operational performance across multiple terminals and markets. This role serves as the senior field leader for the region, directly accountable for building and maintaining sufficient capacity (company drivers, owner operators, and subhaulers) to meet demand, while driving service quality, safety, and efficiency. The Regional General Manager partners closely with the VP of Operations and corporate leadership on financial performance and strategic initiatives, while maintaining hands-on ownership of regional execution.
Location: Northeast U.S., with flexibility across major markets including Baltimore, Philadelphia, the Lehigh Valley (Allentown/Easton/Wind Gap), Northern New Jersey, and Ohio.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Lead assigned regional operations, ensuring efficient load execution, service reliability, and strong customer outcomes
Drive performance against key customer and operational metrics, including on-time delivery, claims, utilization, and cost efficiency
Own regional capacity, including hiring, onboarding, retention, and productivity of company drivers, owner operators, and subhaulers, while partnering with Recruiting to drive application flow, improve conversion, and close capacity gaps across markets
Monitor and actively manage capacity balance, including repositioning, network adjustments, and use of third-party capacity
Partner with the VP of Operations on regional financial performance, including cost drivers, margin improvement, and operational efficiency initiatives
Ensure compliance with all safety, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and regulatory requirements; reinforce a strong safety culture
Coordinate with fleet and maintenance teams to support asset uptime and shop performance
Lead and develop terminal managers and operations leaders; establish clear ownership and accountability for both capacity and execution at the local level
Drive adoption and consistent use of systems (e.g., TMS) and standardized processes
Support onboarding and integration of acquisitions and expansion into new markets
Qualifications
8–12+ years of leadership experience in transportation, logistics, or related operational environment
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field preferred
Experience managing multi-site operations with direct ownership of capacity and field execution
Strong background in driver recruiting, retention, and capacity planning across multiple driver types (company, owner operator, subhauler)
Working knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations
Experience in a high-growth or operationally complex environment preferred
Demonstrated ability to lead distributed teams and drive performance through frontline leaders
Solid financial acumen with ability to manage costs through operational decisions
