
Mechanical Engineer – Vehicle Integration & HIL Systems (Mountain View)

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineering contractor to support the Vehicle Integration team, focused on developing robust Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) systems and specialized test fixtures. This role involves designing complex test environments including racks, enclosures, and fixtures to validate advanced hardware systems.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop mechanical packaging for HIL and embedded HIL (eHIL) systems, including racks and enclosures.
Collaborate cross-functionally with Embedded, Test Automation, Product Integration, and R&D teams to define system requirements.
Coordinate with Electrical Distribution Systems (EDS) teams for cable routing and integration.
Lead design and build of test fixtures, calibration setups, and validation tools.
Provide hands-on support for system builds, installations, and hardware upfits.
Develop 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, and engineering BOMs (CATIA preferred).
Support prototype builds and work closely with manufacturing teams on assemblies.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
4+ years of experience in mechanical design or test infrastructure.
Strong knowledge of electro-mechanical system packaging and cable management.
Proficiency in 3D CAD tools (CATIA preferred).
Hands-on experience in prototyping, test benches, racks, or enclosure design.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, hands-on engineering environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with HIL systems or electrical test benches.
Background in automotive or autonomous vehicle industry.
Knowledge of electrical routing and thermal management.
Familiarity with tools like MATLAB or Python for basic analysis/automation.
Work Environment
Onsite role with potential travel for build support and system integration.
Involves collaboration across multiple engineering teams and locations.
