Job Description
Responsible for coaching the girls' cross country team for the 2026-2027 season at San Dieguito Union High School District. Duties include developing training programs, managing competition schedules, and ensuring student‑athlete academic success.
Requirements / Qualifications
Knowledge of fundamental and advanced cross country techniques.
Ability to teach, enforce, advocate, and model appropriate behavior and educational values for student‑athletes.
Adherence to the National Federation of High Schools Coaches Code of Conduct and California Interscholastic Federation Coaches Code of Conduct.
Experience in cross country or related sport; preference for youth coaching experience.
High school or trade school degree preferred.
Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
Valid CPR/First Aid certificate and TB clearance.
Coach Responsibilities
Prioritise academics and monitor student‑athletes' academic performance.
Develop and communicate team rules and expectations to athletes and parents.
Provide schedules for practices, tournaments, and games; notify changes promptly.
Be punctual and prepared for all practices and games.
Encourage all athletes to perform at their best.
Apply all school and team rules consistently to all athletes.
Maintain a professional demeanor in all actions and words.
Create a positive team environment.
Communicate individual roles and responsibilities to athletes.
Clearly communicate NFHS, CIF, SDUHSD, conference, and team rules to athletes and parents.
Respond to parent phone calls and emails promptly.
Notify parents promptly of any injuries, excluding incidents involving an athletic trainer.
Explain vacation and absence policies.
Allow athletes time away from practice to make up tests due to competition or for tutoring.
Secure permission from the Athletic Director to use district facilities out of season.
Maintain CIF HOME and MAX PREP results/stats; input schedules into Arbiter as required.
Adhere to the sport’s CIF Dead Period during summer.
